Regulations

Regulations for handling of animals at the Expo Stockholm January 31st 2015.

Sales can only be done inside the sales area.
No mammals or birds are permitted in Råstaparkhallen.
Only captive bred animals and animals that show no sign of illness are permitted in the sales area.

The seller are obligated to present information on the care of the animal.

At the sale the seller is obligated to present a signed transfer document with the following data:
Scientific name, the animal birth date (if known), date of transfer and name of the breeder, seller and buyer with addresses. If the breeders name cannot be presented this have to be explained.
The animal should be sexed to avoid further stress during the Expo.

Animals that are obviously stressed should be removed from the table and be placed so they are not under stress from the visitors etc. The same goes for all sold animals until the new owner leaves the sales area, in other words – its not premitted to walk around with bought animals. It will be possible to leave the bought animals to the staff until the Expo is closed. To stress animals by shaking the container/terrarium is forbidden.

The animals should be contained so they cannot escape. The container should show the scientific name of the animal.

The animals should be transported and sold in the same container if possible except during repacking.

Reptiles must be kept solitary.

The container should only allow view from one side or the lid.
The container should have a minimum of 150 cm3 (1,5 dl) – count width x depth x height)

The containers shortest side should equal 1,5 times the animals length for lizards and amphibians. 0,3 times total length for snakes and 2 times the shell length for turtles.
The animals should be able to turn around without problems and rest in a normal body position. The height should be adjusted to the size and behaviour of the species.

The container should provide an interior that give the animal safe spots, and allow transport, and the bottom material customed to the species in question.

Cleaning of the container must be done if needed.

Humidity and temperature in the container should be customed to the species. The ambient temperature will be adapted to the need and will be around24-27°C.

At each sales table with species whos temperature requirements departs from the ambient temperature must have equipment to gauge the temperature.

Semi aquatic species should be kept on moist bottom material.

Aquatic species must be kept in water.

If the species needs access to water and/or food during the Expo the seller must provide water and/or food.

Venomous animals should not be sold to people under the age of 18 years old.
Venomous snakes must the contained in double containers to prevent them from biting and/or spitting through the ventilation holes.
The container must be marked ”VENOMOUS”.

For other animals then reptiles and amphibians all relevant requirements in the swedish Djurskyddsmyndighetens paragrafs (DFS 2004:16, saknumer L80) on the care for keeping, breeding and selling of animals as pets be fullfilled.

Violations against the above regulations will be dealt with accordingly.
Persons whom not respect the regulations will be rejected from the sales area at once.

Rules of entrance.

Before 11.00 only vendors and their assistances are allowed inside the buy – trade – and sell area.
Fellow travelers are allowed in the cafeteria.
The cash register opens at 11.00
You cannot buy a ticket in advance. All visitors must hold a place in the cue.
